Asiana Airlines

One of two major Korean airlines; the other being Korean Air. Founded in 1988; based in Osoe-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Domestic hub at Gimpo International Airport; international hub at Incheon International Airport; member of Star Alliance; operates 14 domestic and 90 international passenger routes. The airline won the Airline Of The Year award in 2010, presented by Skytrax; won the "Best Overall Airline in the World" award from Business Traveler magazine in 2012.

Although the airline has received many awards, it also has a history of crashes:

On July 26, 1993 Asiana Flight 733 crashed 4 Km short of the runway in Mokpo; 2 crew members and 66 passengers were killed.

On April 29, 2009 flight 271 flying from SEA to ICN made an emergency landing after fire was seen coming from the left engine.

On July 28, 2011 an Asiana Airlines Cargo flight crashed into the Pacific Ocean after reporting a fire in the cargo compartment.

On July 6, 2013 flight 214 flying from Incheon Int'l Airport to San Francisco crash landed at San Francisco Int'l Airport, killing 2 and leaving 6 in critical condition.
